"The Orchard of Murcia" comprises the alluvial plain of the Segura River, located in the extreme east of the Region of Murcia, between Molina-Abanilla and the mountainous areas of the Carrascoy and El Valle mountain ranges. It extends from the dam or Azud Mayor de la Contraparada to the border with the province of Alicante.

Nature in Murcia. The Regional Park El Valle and Carrascoy - Tourism in Murcia

The Regional Park "El Valle and Carrascoy" is located south of the city of Murcia. With a surface area of 17,410 hectares, the natural space is part of the Natura 2000 Network.

Its natural values are characterised by a Mediterranean forest dominated mainly by Aleppo pines, stone pines and small enclaves of holm oaks or holm oaks, where plant diversity is high, especially among shrubs, and the presence of protected animals such as birds of prey.

In the Park we recommend a visit to the "El Valle Visitor Centre" where you can obtain information about the environment and maps.

Another point of interest is the Wildlife Recovery Centre and the botanical garden "Arboretum". Also highly recommended is a visit to ""The Visitor Centre of La Luz " and "The Sanctuary of Fuensanta" from where you can enjoy incredible landscapes and panoramic views of the Huerta and the city of Murcia.

The Park can be visited all year round with mild temperatures, although in summer they are high, so it is advisable to visit it in the early hours of the morning, taking plenty of water, isotonic drinks, suitable clothing and sun protection.
